The Ballad Of Otis Campbell

In the quaint little town of Mayberry
In the hills of Caroline
A legend lives life so free and merry
Drinkin’ whiskey and mountain moonshine

To see him sober you wouldn’t look twice
His hair is combed and his suit looks nice
Just another ordinary Mayberry man
Until he gets that whiskey in his hand

Otis Campbell’s drunk again!

The weekends here and Otis is bombed
He’s passed out on the courthouse lawn
The sheriff’s deputy is having a fit
He didn’t choose a police career for this shit

There lays Otis, making a scene
His breath in fumes like gasoline
Trousers falling below his ass
Singing to crickets in the grass

Otis Campbell’s really gassed!

He’s been to the jail so many times
The sheriff made him his own key
Stumbling in on a Friday night
As wasted as any man can be

Snoring all his buzz away
In the comfort of his cell
He’ll get breakfast and coffee the next day
The sheriff treats his prisoners well.

Otis Campbell’s head is swelled!

The townsfolk love him, he’s dear to their hearts
They laugh at his belching and scoff at his farts
The League Of Christian Women see Otis’s sins
They want Otis Campbell to make amends

Otis makes up his own holidays
To celebrate with drink and song
Otis will never change his ways
No matter how silly, he can’t go wrong

He might be a boozer, but he isn’t a loser
He’s as free as any man can be
A kindhearted guy with a sense of humor
An outstanding character of Mayberry

Otis Campbell’s soul is merry!

Otis, Otis where you been?
I see you’ve gone, got drunk again
There’s moonshine dripping from the hills
You know all the bootleggers and their stills

Otis Campbell, you are a great man
We’ll celebrate you whenever we can
Your legend lives as your spirit goes by
To that liquor store up in the sky

Your Cell

when is a cell not a prison cell?
when isnt this planet a cage as well?
if cabin fever should make you sweat
what relief can you get?

its true, we can be trapped inside a space
and there can be emptiness in that place
we can lose hope inside invisible walls
only look past the bars and hope the barrier falls

is the cell where you dwell big enough for you?
or have you outgrown this ball of green and blue?
do you find security in your imprisoned fate?
or are you always longing for escape?

decorate and brighten up your hole
fill it full of friends to fill your soul
find a love to share your cave with you
what more can a hopeless prisoner do?

explore the world to every shore
your prison only grows more and more
find the limit you cannot pass
come to know you're hopelessly trapped

an endless quest to find the end
follow the fence to the yard 'round the bend
choose your cell and make a home
find solace that you're not alone

Today

today i'm the fool trying to survive
but wishing that i wasn't alive
today i'm in school learning to let go
know it hurts more than you'll ever know

today i'm the fool trying to get by
wishing i hadn't survived
today i learned a rule so difficult to know
a future in the life can only let the past go

Amsterdam

the coffeeshops are full of great weed
the bars have every european beer you'd ever need
people on old bicycles everywhere
nowhere else on earth can be compared

tourists thick on the old stone streets
junkies begging for money to eat
street musicians playing for coins
window prostitutes offering their loins

amsterdam, amsterdam
have fun but dont mess with the dutch policeman
amsterdam, amsterdam
dont get too stoned and get hit by a tram

jewel of the netherlands
las vegas of europe
this renaissance city never sleeps

open sex theatres and sex shops
the decadence of amsterdam never stops
slanting old buildings and a maze of canals
a strange place to party with your pals

an international crowd
getting drunken, getting loud
dutch tolerance of the euro freak show
a netherlanders life is seldom slow

amsterdam,amsterdam
have some dinner at a shoarma stand
amsterdam, amsterdam
get there when you can

Thank You My Friend

I'll thank you again and again my friend
for making this life better to attend
and though you may not be here in the end
i'm happy to remember you as a friend

people change as time gones by
a friend moves on, a friend dies
or friends don't make room for buddies anymore
to have their memory and nothing more

life will change and paths drift apart
roads will split when we follow our heart
changes that seperate us forever more
take us out of this room through different doors

but it's good to remember the times we had
hanging out together and feeling glad
now there's a life where good times still show
but with different people we've grow to know

thank you my friend for lending an ear
your company was enjoyed when you were near
and if someday you should reappear again
you'll have the appreciation i had for you then

Nobody Told Me

nobody told me one day i'd be used
nobody taught me i'd be abused
nobody told me, but i'm telling you
be prepared to lose

no one said "get ready for some hurt"
i learned because i kept getting burnt
took and gave a whole lot of sorrow
to dread the past and have fear in tomorrow

fighting to bring on better days
fighting to hold back wicked ways
no one told me the struggles i'd find
to get my piece of mind

Let It Come To You

look for something, you will never find it
expect something, it will never come
wait for something, you'll grow old without it
watch for it, it will never be seen

work for something, the result is left to chance
pray for something, the result is left to your god
be handed something, it is but a fleeting gift
think about it, you still know nothing

dream, but don't invest in visions
percieve, but don't believe your sight
be patient, but have no faith
love, but expect nothing in return

to live is your only achievement
your fantasy is your only grace
keep your hopes in perspective
and live your life

Conscious Realization

a dream of reality born into being
gets me a slice of heaven
a thought of mortality that sleeping is seeing
nirvana of the bretheren

one day i'll be dead and gone
and nothing will remain
a finish to my dreaming on
but an ending to all pain

existence gives it all to us
we've only to explore
the paradise and hell that was
will one day be no more

life holds our forever
bringing us closer to infinity
can't help but feel more clever
in a consciousness of divinity

Break Me

make me feel young, then call me old
hook me on you, then leave me cold
dominate me to make me beg
leash me when i try to hump your leg

expose me to where i cannot hide
rip a few chunks out of my pride
lie to me to crush my spirit
withdraw your heart when i start to get near it

take my sense and kick it about
grab my soul and tear it out
rot my crotch and steal my seed
then say i'm not the man you need

destroy my dreams and haunt my nights
bring my torture to new heights
give me a call to say you don't care
that you just wanted in my underwear

Hanging Out In Limbo

sitting through this limbo
waiting for my time
trying to stay simple
i'm passing on this rhyme

living through this shithole
wondering where to go
think i'll stay right here
it's the best place that i know

hanging out in limbo

passing time so patiently
don't need to move so fast
move through life so gracefully
take the time so dreams can last

looking for my glory
just let it find me
live, don't write the story
follow your destiny

If I Could

you were the one who possessed my heart
but it was cracked when we split apart
i know i didn't do all i should
i'd do it better if i could

if i could turn back the hands of time
if i could take back those mistakes of mine
if i could show you how i care
for you i would go anywhere

if i could get to you
and you would remember me always
i did all i possibly could in my way
to impress you to cherish me all your days

sometimes life isn't easy
and not much will go your way
but if i could have found a way
my wish was that you would stay

The Imperfections In Me

i don't practice what i preach
divinity is out of reach
my actions are full of contadictions
my life is the sentance of my convictions

might never reach maturity
never be all that i can be
never try the best i can
but still i try to be a man

can't get past my mistakes
must not have what it takes
yet i have the strength to see
the imperfections in me

The Wrong Cop

you're in the wrong place at the wrong time
you aren't out to take part in a henious crime
now the light is on you
his billy club is out too

say hello to "the wrong cop"

he's got a killers gun
he'll shoot you if you run
he's a schizoid
and he's paranoid

he takes bribes
and ruins good lives
planting evidence
and acting predjudice

hes "the wrong cop"

he's guiltier than you or me
he keeps his power and he stays free
a faulty system is to blame
he gives good cops a bad name

Coming To Grips With Immortality On LSD

i can see my skull
underneath my face!
i can see my skull
underneath my face!
the mirror shows my fate

i can see my bones
underneath my skin!
i can see my bones
underneath my skin!
i'll surely rot but when?

I'll see ya
they'll bury ya
I'll see ya
when they bury ya

i can see my life
flash before my eyes!
i can see my life
flash before my eyes!
death don't predjudize!

The Body We Found

black and blue, soaked in blood
slowly sinking in the mud
mutilated, lifeless carcass
silent shadow in the darkness

eyes poked out, flesh ripped and torn
face is bloated and badly deformed
naked body in the dirt
dried-blood excretions, hair singed and burnt

the absent clues and missing clothes
how did it happen? no one knows

Success

is there a definition to success?
when all roads can lead to distress
status and riches, the stress they bring
an uncertainty of earthly living

losing touch with the dream
losing track of what existence means
about what is important in this life
with or without the love of a husband or wife

we never really grasp the dream
the pursuit just gets us through this scene
do we ever really find our way?
in search of success we hope and pray

Destiny

you could die any second
or live a long life
you might never find love
or have a life long wife

you could be dirt poor
or own shoes you've never worn
all of it is out of your control
it is how you were born

you are you and you can't be changed
your destiny is prearranged
you have a purpose, you know you do
be a good person to see it through

nothing in life is guaranteed
much is wrong in the lives we lead
take these words and heed them well
you can find your heaven or live in hell
