struggling through her day
trying to find her own way

about her growth from a kitten
from her first time bitten
to where she's now sittin'

her life is hard out on the street
searching for some scraps to eat
fighting for her survival
defending territory from a rival

under no ones care
no possessions to bear
no good emotions there
only a feral stare

parasites of nature try to consume her
the harshness of the seasons try to doom her
there is no doubt she is a tough old girl
but how will her offspring come into this world?

what can be done
about a stray with no home
who is destined to roam
to travel life alone

what can be said
when a young stray is dead
